What’s the ”new normal”?! Young Finns challenge the decision makers in SuomiAreena

What is Finnishness? Who is Finnish enough? Is it worth to plan a future in Finland?

A group of multilingual Finnish teenagers host a panel discussion at SuomiAreena’s BePOP stage on 20th of July. The participants are the Minister of the Interior Kai Mykkänen, People’s deputy Laura Huhtasaari, writer Maryan Abdulkarim, Project Manager Antti Seitamaa (SAKKI ry) and psychologist Vera Gergov.

A pop up newsroom will be established in Ohjaamo, in the very heart of Pori. During the week, the teenagers report to their own reference groups what Finland talks about. The newsroom is an open meeting place, where many kinds of media contents will be produced, and well known people will be invited to host workshops and give interviews. The newsroom’s work can be followed in Finnish through young journalists’ own vlog.

The workshops and the media camp is prepared and implemented in cooperation with Mediakasvatuskeskus Metka ry.
