The Anniversary Fund grants to Russian language and culture studies, teaching and research

Parliament of Finland donated 10 million euros to Cultura Foundation for establishing the Fund for the 150th Anniversary of Regular Legislative Work in Finland.

The grants awarded by the Fund are intended for Finns studying Russian language and culture and for developing teaching. The fund is aimed at increasing the popularity of studying the Russian language, improving learning outcomes and advancing the understanding of Russian culture in Finland.

Who can apply for a grant?

Grants can be applied for by Finnish private persons, Finnish working groups, and communities that are registered in Finland and have been in operation for at least one year. Finnish private persons and working groups means people who are either Finnish citizens or who have a permanent Finnish residence permit.

The Executive Board of Cultura Foundation confirms the decisions made by the Board of Directors of the Anniversary Fund. Notification of successful grant applicants will be made through the grant processing system on the Foundation’s website not earlier that within two months of the expiration of the application period.

When?

Grants are as a rule granted once a year, usually in the autumn. The starting date for the application period will be announced on the Cultura Foundation website and on the Foundation’s social media channels.

The next application period starts the 1st October 2018 at 8.00 and continues until 6th November at 16.00.

Apply for a grant for studying Russian language and culture

The grants are awarded to Finns for scholarships for students and for studies of Russian language and culture mainly in Russia. We support language studies also in other Russian speaking environments. You can apply for a grant for student exchange, language training and pre-university programmes in the Russian universities.

Personal grant can be applied for by a Finnish citizen or a person, who has a permanent Finnish residence permit. Applicants under 18 years old need a consent from parents to the application and to handling of the personal data.

Apply for a grant for development of teaching Russian language and culture

The grants are awarded for developing teaching and teaching materials and curricula, for teachers’ further training, motivational study trips to Russia, intensive language courses, language nests at day-care centres and extracurricular activities in Russian in comprehensive schools.

Apply for a grant for the research of the Russian language and culture

Postgraduate students and researchers can apply for a grant for costs (travel etc.) of literature and other research material acquisition as well as scientific work that is carried out  mainly in Russia.

The grants are also awarded for research projects related to Russian language and culture.

The grants are awarded for studying of Russian culture and projects promoting its teaching and research. Projects that encourage maintaining of Russian language skills or  advance the understanding of Russian culture in Finland are also supported.
